.ON NOV 22ND Geert Wilders's anti-immigrant Person for Liberty (PVV) completed initially in the Dutch basic political election, winning 37 of the 150 chairs in parliament, or even 23.6% of the ballot. His success was a substantial surprise. But the recipient of this sudden rely on the difficult right is no startup. The 60-year-old Mr Wilders is the longest-serving MP in the Dutch parliament, having met 1998 as a member of the centre-right Liberals (VVD). He quit that event in 2004 over what he considered its own soft qualities towards Islam, and started the PVV in 2006. He has always had a sound base of citizen help, but has devoted his legislative career usually on the side projects, shut out of influence by other parties' refusal to deal with him. Right now there is actually a great chance that this will alter.
